Mozambican roads have historically been designed to the
Portuguese Standards. These standards are not
compatible with the Codes of Practice used in the
surrounding countries, i.e SATCC. The roads and bridge
infrastructure condition also varies throughout the country
and transporters should never assume that the roads can
support abnormal loads without a thorough route
investigation along the route to be travelled. The National
Roads Administration (ANE) requires route investigations
and clearances be performed for all abnormal loads as
defined by the Road Code (Código de Estrada).
ESA management are specialists in this field and have
performed numerous route investigations for a variety of
industrial Clients for payloads of up to 183Tons.
